Meeting Minutes

Sandia Bears 09/14/08
Agenda was approved.
Previous meeting’s minutes were read.
It was voted that since the required volunteerism may be keeping prospective members away, it be done away with.
As the treasurer’s report was given on Saturday at the ABA meeting, Ben said there was nothing new to report between yesterday and today.
ABA is well underway – the schedule is set, the site is online, plane tickets have been purchased for MC Bobaloo, and ads have been placed on bearguide.net. Dan from Sidewinders will be getting cards made for the run.
The Web site needs to be changed to PHP to allow the secretary to program the site so that everyone can use it. It was also discussed changing the layout of the home page to better advertise ABA.
The newsletter submission deadline is coming up. Bruce urged all who had any ideas for stories to submit. Tony and Ben suggested something about the rodeo. Bruce will do something about ABA.
Membership is at a standstill. This will partly be addressed by removing the required volunteerism from the bylaws and partly through events such as the meeting of the clubs.
It was discussed that since Pride was so expensive to pull off this year, perhaps if we planned it a little better for next year it would be a little less expensive.
The garage sale netted $20. Again, with proper planning and advertising, we can do much better at our next sale.
Bar nights are anemic at best. It was discussed and seconded eliminating a scheduled bar night and having events happen as they are planned. We’d still have bar nights, just not on regularly occurring days.
The meeting of the clubs is happening, but at the moment there are only four clubs participating: the NMGRA, the RRCC car club, the Sandia Bears, and the Flickr club. No one else, including Equality New Mexico and Pride, has responded as of yet. Bruce will keep trying.
As far as liaisons to other clubs go, Bruce has joined the Bears San Diego, Jay has joined the Front Range Bears, and Lee has joined the Bears of the Old Pueblo.
A revised version of the club logo was discussed.
Meeting was adjourned.
